Q and A: Why doesn’t The Johnson Center directly bill insurance?
JCCHD | Thu, October 04, 2012 | [Autism Treatment][Healthcare][Q and A ]The variability of insurance benefits, the restrictions, and the staffing required to process insurance claims makes contracting with insurance companies cost-prohibitive. Our goal is to provide families with quality services at the most reasonable rate possible, without the restrictions that are often attached to in-network billing.
Our staff can assist you in getting the reimbursement for services that your insurance company allows; we provide you with receipts that include the appropriate coding to submit to your carrier for reimbursement once you have completed your appointments. We are happy to review the receipts with you, so you are familiar with the location of diagnostic codes, CPT codes, and clinician codes on the forms.
We recognize that most families rely primarily on insurance to cover medical or therapeutic expenses and it can be confusing when a clinician or center does not directly bill insurance companies. Unfortunately this practice is becoming more common as more providers look to provide individualized, quality care for their patients. Insurance carriers often dictate low reimbursement rates, limited patient interaction, and restricted evaluations. This can limit a provider’s ability to provide a thorough evaluation and spend time educating and properly supporting those they are charged to serve.
The staff at The Johnson Center will do everything we can to help address your financial concerns along the way. We offer various financial assistance grants and payment plan arrangements; to help patients navigate financial challenges, the Family Care Department is available to assist with determining insurance benefits, guide you to available grants and scholarships, and help with financial paperwork.
While insurance may be associated with a more familiar form of service, families can be assured that The Johnson Center will work hard to serve their needs, including financial concerns.
